Prepare for the broad scope of ministry today through solid biblical and theological education, relevant leadership training and mentored ministry experience.

Corban’s ministry program starts with a strong biblical foundation, including studies in Bible interpretation and Bible books, as well as crucial training in theology, intercultural communication, spiritual formation and ministry strategy. You’ll learn from faculty who are actively serving in ministry and are recognized experts with years of experience in church and cross-cultural ministry.

Corban’s innovative ministry program also gives students the option to complete both a bachelor’s degree and a Master of Arts in Christian Leadership in a total of just five years. You’ll save on tuition, gain a competitive edge in the job market, and be better equipped to enter ministry.

Wherever God is leading you, Corban will give you the foundation to make a difference for Jesus Christ.

Programs of Study

The ministry department trains and equips you to use your gifts and strengths for the glory of God. All of them can be completed as fast track programs, letting you earn a bachelor’s and master’s degree in just five years.

Christian Ministry

If you feel led to serve as a pastor, ministry leader or church staff member, this degree will provide biblically-based, culturally-relevant training and practical experience to help you identify and effectively use your unique gifts. Your training will focus on discipleship, teaching Scripture and ministry leadership.

The Christian Ministry degree is designed to meet the needs of church and parachurch organizations who are looking for versatile ministry training. You can tailor your degree to your area of interest, whether that is pastoral ministry, women’s ministry, student and family ministry, camping ministry or parachurch organizations.

Biblical-Theological Studies

Dive deep into academic study of the Bible and theology, growing in your personal faith as you examine the foundational truths of Christianity. These classes will challenge you to analyze God’s Word, explore the context in which it was written and discover its truths and application for today. With in-depth book studies, Greek and Hebrew languages, and foundational ministry training, you’ll be well-prepared for graduate school or ministry.

Bring God’s Word to life in new languages through linguistics and Bible translation. Your work can make it possible for people to read and hear Scripture in their native language for the first time. In addition to a core of Bible and ministry courses at Corban, you’ll spend two summers taking classes at Canada Institute of Linguistics for a strong foundation of technical linguistic skills. You’ll be ready to spread the gospel around the globe.

Intercultural Studies

Prepare to reach the world for Christ, sharing God’s love and the life-giving truth of the gospel. You’ll receive training on cultural sensitivity, cross-cultural adaptation, language learning and intercultural communications, plus practical experience to tie it all together. You can also choose to build a TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages) certificate into this (or any) degree, which can open additional job opportunities and allow entrance into countries closed to traditional missionaries. Wherever God leads, you’ll be equipped to teach the Bible, build relationships and show His love in practical ways.

Intercultural Education

Be equipped to teach in international or cross-cultural settings where education can literally change lives. This hybrid ministry and education degree combines a strong foundation of Bible, ministry and intercultural studies with fundamental education theory and practice. As an intercultural educator, you may have opportunities to enter countries that are closed to missionaries and make a significant impact for Jesus Christ through your work and the relationships you build. Intercultural education majors also earn an ACSI Bible Specialist professional certification.

Unique Opportunities & Experiences

Fast Track

Corban’s fast track program structure allows you to earn both your bachelor’s degree and a Masters of Arts in Christian Leadership in just five years. By reducing the overlap in classes that often occurs when students go to a Christian college and then seminary, fast track graduates can save years and tuition without missing any ministry training. All ministry students will benefit from graduate-level courses in their fourth year, and then choose whether to continue on for another year to earn a master’s. Choose from any of five programs of study: Christian ministry, intercultural studies, Biblical-theological studies, intercultural education and linguistics.

Global Experiences

You’ll have a wide variety of cross-cultural opportunities, from touring Bible lands to international ministry experience. Each year, ministry majors help host camps for military kids in Japan, engage in evangelism and service in Cameroon, teach small groups alongside national church planters, and serve on short-term mission trips to Peru, France, Czech Republic, Indonesia and more.

Corban also offers an accelerated Master of Divinity program in conjunction with Western Seminary. With this program, you will earn a bachelor’s degree from Corban and then complete your graduate education at Western Seminary in Portland. Visit our Kairos page to learn more.

Ministry Internships

Every ministry degree includes sophomore and junior practicums, as well as a senior cross-cultural internship. These opportunities give you quality involvement and increasing leadership responsibilities in a variety of local ministries, preparing you to be effective in real world ministry.

Tesol Minor

TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages) training provides a practical, certified job skill for future cross-cultural workers in ministry, education or business. As God’s servants, if we desire to use English language instruction as a bridge to relationships, or as an entrance strategy to a country, or in any sort of service, it is necessary to have a grasp of how languages work and are acquired. Corban’s TESOL minor provides instruction and practice in teaching methods for language proficiency, including listening, speaking, reading and writing.

Unlike ESOL certification for future teachers in American classrooms who must work to assimilate English language learners, the TESOL approach focuses on teaching English as a practical and professional skill for students who are looking for international ministry opportunities.

The TESOL minor can be combined with any major at Corban University.
